Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil: neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment - Ex. 23 : 2.
These are hard days and "birth-pangs" moment. Many questions arise after 1977. Is this message true and how long are we to wait ? For people on God's Word, waiting is a "gift" through redemption. They will believe everything what God has said. These are also days when people will just follow the majority whether they be wrong or right, as people feel that the majority will always be right; they say, 'If 100 people tell the same thing, it must be right.' But in our experience, we know that the minority can be and most always are right. Numbers, Chapters 13 and 14 will provide a pointed warning to us in this regard.
Many people do not know the meaning of "Stone of Stumbling" and they have an human thinking. When John sent his disciples to Jesus, he himself was stumbling as he was in prison for being straight-forward for the Lord. His head was to be cut off, and he thought that Jesus will set him free from the prison as He was the expected Messiah; but he did not know that the Messiah will have to pass through sufferings before the glorious days later on. Then when the disciples of John questioned Him, "Are ye the one to come or look we for another ?" (Matt. 11 : 3), Jesus replied, "Whosoever is not offended in me is blessed" (Mark 11 : 6). Many people think that Jesus was committing such a bad sins that people of his time were offended in his behaviour, and so they satisfy themselves and find good cause for their own sins. But our (that is, the Bride's) eyes should always be on the Word of God; and not on friends, relations and family members, or on public opinion, in which case we are bound to fail in the sight of God.
Let us see what the Word of God says in this respect. If we turn over to 1 Peter 2 : 6 - 9, it is clearly stated in Vs. 7 and 8:
V.7 : "Unto you therefore which believe he is precious; but unto them which be DISOBEDIENT, the stone which the builders disallowed (Jesus Christ), the same is made the Head of the Corner ( END-TIME PYRAMID ).
V.8 : And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the Word, being disobedient : whereunto also they were appointed."
See again Rom: 9 : 32 - 33: "Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling-stone; Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." The Stone is the same, but it appears differently to different people -- vide 2 Sam. 22 : 26 - 27, repeated in Ps. 18 : 25 - 26. To a man wearing a red glass, everything will appear red; and if a man wears a green glass, everything will appear green to him. To the believers of the Word Ministry for the hour, He is a precious Stone; but to the Disobedient, the same Stone appears at Stone of Stumbling, as they do not see through the blood of Jesus. So Bride members will hold this Stone as Chief Corner Stone, Elect and Precious, of a very great value.
This Stone, precious to some and stumbling to many, is like a stone laid on the middle of the road. All people who walk on the road look at the Stone. One small group of people ( a very thin minority ) who have got out of all bondage of self, of family and of all man-made denominations and the corrupt things they stand for, and who have taken away all traces of hatred against anyone from their mind, heart and spirit, and are therefore full of DIVINE LOVE which is the Hall-mark of this Ministry" -- the eyes of such people ( the Bride ) are opened and they have a perfect revelation of the Stone as the Living Word and so hold it precious to guide them to the very end of "Glorification". But to another set of people ( a great majority ), they might have left everything or not, may have done real sacrifice for the Lord or not, but who hate their brethren sometimes even without cause --- their eyes have become blind by joining some denominations; they are in darkness and walk in darkness and know not whither they go, because that darkness hath blinded their eyes; they are even murderers and have no eternal life -- (I John 1 : 11 & 3 : 15) -- to such people, the Stone is a stumbling stone; they have no light and so they stumble. They must relent from their individual and social prides and prejudices, repent and humble themselves and seek God. Otherwise, they will surely stumble and are to be considered as "appointed as stumble", and no one could help them.
Please turn also to Heb. 9 : 26 - 28:
"Now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.................So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many ; and unto them that look for Him, shall He appear the Second time without sin unto salvation." We are waiting for His Third Coming in Glory at Mt. Olives -- (Daniel 2 : 34 - 35). This stumbling Stone which smote the image becomes a great mountain and fills the whole world.
I would like to state a vision I had in the early days of my ministry before going to the States for the first time in 1960. I was leading a multitude of people with my wife and children. We walked through mountains and valleys, through stones and thorns, through rivers and sand, through rain and sun; and thousands of men and women were rejoicing and singing and marching. As time went, one by one, many friends and believers left as hardship came; but the march was going on and big groups of people suddenly left when we had to cross a big river and it pained us all; but courageously the rest of us were marching, and all of a sudden, we came upon a high perpendicular mountaneous rock, which we had to pass over. At this juncture, some of my children wavered and kept aloof far away from the rock with most of the "faithfuls". My wife and I and a few others were moving on slowly and faithfully and we came very near to the rock. The former courage, joy and speed had by then left most of us. The face of the rock was most smooth with no cavities or juttings to step on or hold on to and climb; moreover none of us were mountain climbers; so there was absolutely no way of going up the rock. And so when we raised our heads and looked at the great rock reaching up to heavens perpendicularly, even my wife and others too relented, saying "How is it possible to climb over ?" They stopped and I moved on alone for a short while, and then a voice said, "Only faith on God's Word will glorify you". With this voice, I was awakened and the vision left me.
You know, the man child, as soon as brought forth, was instantly caught up unto God and to His Throne (Rev. 12 : 5) -- that is, to Glory - this catching up (or translation) must surely have been by Faith and not by any other agency. May we all, therefore, boldly march on with unwavering Faith on God's Word, to be caught up to translated and Glory, the very summit of the heaven-high perpendicular rock.
